October 2026 Express Entry Draws: PNP Cutoff Jumps to 772, CEC Holds at 519
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held two Express Entry invitation rounds in the second week of October 2026: a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on October 13 that invited 752 candidates at a CRS cutoff of 772, and a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw on October 15 that invited 2,500 candidates at a cutoff of 519. Read together with the year-to-date numbers, the two rounds confirm 2026's defining pattern — steady, high-volume CEC and French-language draws carrying the year, while PNP cutoffs swing sharply from round to round.
Draw #448: Provincial Nominee Program — October 13, 2026
| Detail | Result |
|---|---|
| Draw number | 448 |
| Date and time | October 13, 2026, at 10:25:58 UTC |
| Round type | Provincial Nominee Program |
| Invitations issued | 752 |
| Minimum CRS score | 772 |
| Tie-breaking rule | July 15, 2026, at 13:57:33 UTC |
The previous PNP round, on September 28, invited 733 candidates at a cutoff of 725. Draw #448 therefore issued 19 more invitations while the cutoff rose 47 points. That jump looks dramatic, but it reflects pool composition, not a policy change: fifteen days elapsed between the two rounds, and high-scoring provincial nominees kept entering the pool. A CRS of 772 is mathematically out of reach without a nomination — every candidate invited in this round held a provincial nomination certificate worth 600 additional points.
Draw #449: Canadian Experience Class — October 15, 2026
| Detail | Result |
|---|---|
| Draw number | 449 |
| Date and time | October 15, 2026, at 10:02:33 UTC |
| Round type | Canadian Experience Class |
| Invitations issued | 2,500 |
| Minimum CRS score | 519 |
| Tie-breaking rule | September 21, 2026, at 19:00:47 UTC |
The previous CEC round, on September 29, invited 2,000 candidates at 518. Draw #449 issued 500 more invitations — a 25% increase — with the cutoff moving just one point higher to 519. It was the largest CEC draw since August 5, 2026, when 3,000 invitations went out at 516. The tie-breaking timestamp, only 24 days before the draw, shows selection reached relatively recent profiles among candidates scoring exactly 519.
2026 so far: 61 draws, 138,467 invitations
As of October 15, 2026, IRCC has issued 138,467 invitations across 61 Express Entry draws in 2026 — already well ahead of the 113,998 issued in all of 2025. The composition tells the real story:
- Canadian Experience Class: 18 draws, 57,750 invitations, with cutoffs in a tight band (average 513, range 507–523). The workhorse of 2026.
- French-language proficiency: repeated 5,000-invitation rounds at the year's lowest large-volume cutoffs (382 on August 19, 391 on August 6, 399 on July 22, 409 on May 28).
- Provincial Nominee Program: 20 rounds, 10,022 invitations, cutoffs swinging between 697 and 805.
- Category-based rounds: trades (3,500 at 476 on October 1), healthcare and social services (3,500 at 475 on September 4), senior managers (250 at 389 on September 16), physicians (229 at 198 on September 3), transport (300 at 470 on August 7), and skilled military recruits (4 at 368 on July 23).
- No all-program (general) rounds have been held in 2026.
CEC and French-language draws together account for roughly 78% of all 2026 invitations. The Express Entry pool held 229,456 candidate profiles as of October 12, 2026, with the densest concentration — over 71,000 profiles — sitting between CRS 451 and 500.
What the pattern means if you are in the pool
CEC candidates: the cutoff has barely moved for months. Scores between 516 and 523 have been consistently competitive, and invitation volumes are recovering after a soft August. If you are at 510 or above with Canadian work experience, you are in the realistic zone.
PNP candidates: expect volatility. Cutoffs depend heavily on how many days pass between rounds and how many newly nominated profiles enter. The nomination itself (+600 points) remains the single most powerful CRS lever in the system.
French speakers: French-language rounds continue to offer the lowest cutoffs at the largest volumes. NCLC 7 in all four abilities remains the threshold that unlocks this category.
Everyone else: category-based draws reward specific profiles at much lower cutoffs than program-based rounds — but eligibility requires meeting the category's work-experience and occupation rules first, and there is no separate application to "opt in."
Frequently asked questions
Why did the PNP cutoff jump 47 points in two weeks?
The cutoff is simply the lowest score among invited candidates in that round. Between September 28 and October 13, enough high-scoring nominees entered the pool to push the lowest invited score from 725 to 772. It reflects pool dynamics, not a rule change.
Is 519 a good CEC score or a bad one?
It sits near the top of 2026's CEC band (507–523) but inside it. The one-point rise alongside 500 extra invitations suggests demand is absorbing the larger round sizes without much upward pressure.
How does the tie-breaking rule work?
When more candidates share the cutoff score than there are invitations left, IRCC ranks them by the date and time their Express Entry profile was submitted. It awards no points — it only orders tied profiles.
Will IRCC hold an all-program (general) draw?
None has been held in 2026 as of October 15, and IRCC does not announce draw schedules in advance. Plan around the rounds that are actually happening — CEC, PNP, French-language, and category-based — rather than waiting for a general round.
My CEC score is 512. What should I do?
You are just below the recent band. A language retest, an extra year of Canadian work experience, or a spouse-factor reassessment can each add meaningful points. French-language ability at NCLC 7+ would open an entirely separate, lower-cutoff stream.
Where can I see official draw results?
IRCC publishes every round on its official "Rounds of invitations" page on canada.ca. Only IRCC's figures are official; third-party trackers republish them.
